I plugged everything into my iMac (2017, 27“, 4,2 GHz, Radeon Pro 580, 1TB Apple SSD, 32GB RAM, OSX High Sierra 10.13.4) via Thunderbolt 3. It fitted in the box without any problems and the power supply of the box was strong enough to drive this monster card with its three fans without any problems.

The graphics card i put inside was the Asus Strix Vega 64 ROG. The build quality is very good, the slider and locking mechanism is great, the graphics card is very easy to install. So i turned to the Razer Core X which arrived last week. I originally ordered a Sonnet Breakaway 650 Box, but it was not in stock yet in Germany. The most important thing at first: It did not work very well yet, and you can NOT (yet) drive the internal display of the iMac with the eGPU right now. Therefor a powerful graphics performance is needed on the iMac. Why I try the eGPU setup? My aim for the future is, to once have a working X Plane VR setting, when X Planes native VR support comes to the Mac (whenever this is gonna be?!).
